Jammu, September 26
A two-day international film festival organised by Vomedh opened today at Abhinav Theatre which was presided over by Bollywood actors Kashmera Shah and Ayub Khan.
The festival includes screening of 37 short films and documentaries from different countries like Iran, France Turkey, Afghanistan, Spain and India. The international film festival was inaugurated by Jammu Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion, Kashmera Shah praised the efforts of Bhat Brothers — Rakesh Bhat and Rohit Bhat — for organising the festival.
“This festival will inspire the youth of the state to fulfil their dreams about making films as short films and documentaries from many countries are being showcased in the festival,” said Kashmera Shah.
Shah who danced on the Dogra folk music organised by Jammu artistes also expressed her desire to direct a film in Jammu and Kashmir. “J&K is one of the most beautiful places in the entire world,” she said and wished that Bollywood directors may come and explore the scenic beauty of the region for making their films.
In the event, the organisers have also included some local short films and documentaries for a competition made by Jammu producers and directors. “The best selected short film and documentary will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 2,000 each,” said Rohit Bhat. A large number of local directors and producers of Jammu, who have made feature films, documentaries and short films, and other artistes who have acted in films and documentaries were also invited for the show.
